Class Descriptions

beginner fundamentals/trial class

In our fundamentals class, we focus on helping you build a solid foundation in jiu-jitsu through controlled drilling of techniques, without the pressure of live sparring. This class is designed to teach you the core principles and movements that are essential to the art, ensuring you develop the skills needed to progress confidently.

Each class begins with a warmup, followed by dedicated time for drilling techniques and live positional training, finishing with a cool-down and stretching. We encourage you to ask questions throughout, as it’s important for your growth and understanding. Our structured approach not only helps you refine your technique but also reduces the risk of injury, and builds your confidence to proceed to live sparring and our all-levels classes.

Adult All Levels

This class is open to all students 16 years or older and the techniques and teaching will focus on the basics of Jiu-Jitsu as well as more advanced techniques for those that are blue and above.

Although this class is open to All-Levels it is designed for students who have grasped the core concepts of bjj. The techniques shown in this class build upon the basics and focus on specific details, styles, and strategies within Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with an emphasis on active drills and live sparring.

Open Mat

This is dedicated time to allow students to spar or live roll with one another in a safe and structured environment. Open Mat is available to all SJJA students of any level. We believe that one of the best ways to learn Jiu-Jitsu is to apply what you have learned and get on the mats!
